Roger Bacon opened the game up with a three-run first inning and never looked back on its way to a second straight district title.

Ben Logan trusted Freshman Micha Gregg on the mound with a trip to Akron on the line. Gregg showed his inexperience early, as the Spartan offense hopped on top early with three runs in the opening frame of the game.

Roger Bacon capitalized on timely hitting and solid pitching to get the victory Saturday afternoon.

Roger Bacon kept Benjamin Logan stranded multiple times with men on base and could not string together enough offense to keep pace.

Roger Bacon’s offense was led by Max DeFranco, who delivered a standout performance at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs and a triple. Terrance Todd added a 1-for-3 effort with an RBI, and Ben Powers and Ian Childress each drove in a run to help power the scoring attack.

Devin Gibson and Owen Stewart each contributed hits at the top of the lineup as Roger Bacon totaled six stolen bases, putting consistent pressure on the defense.

Benjamin Logan’s lineup was paced by Parker Yelton, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with an RBI. Oliver Moore added a hit and scored the team’s lone run, while Cohen Archer collected one RBI in a 1-for-3 performance. Micah Gregg provided a spark with a 2-for-3 day, and Abraham Lyons added an additional base hit.

Despite out-hitting Roger Bacon 7-6, Benjamin Logan managed only one extra-base hit and left runners on base in key situations.

On the mound, Collin Schulte and Bryan Yaecker combined to hold Benjamin Logan to one run. Schulte worked one inning, allowing one hit, while Yaecker earned the win in relief with six strikeouts over multiple innings, giving up six hits and one run.

Roger Bacon’s ability to convert scoring chances and create pressure on the bases proved to be the difference, as Benjamin Logan could not match the efficiency despite a comparable hit total.

Benjamin Logan ends its season as District runners-up, despite the lack of experience and losing its lone senior early in the year. The Raiders fought through adversity numerous times to find themselves on the doorstep of a trip to Akron.

A season full of promise gives hope for the future of Ben Logan baseball, as the underclassmen gain more experience and the team continues to grow, aspirations in Raider Country should be sky-high.
