The Benjamin Logan Varsity Softball girls (5-5) dropped a close game to state champion Central Buckeye Conference foe, the Kenton Ridge Cougars (12-0), Tuesday night, April 15.

The Raiders lost 4-0, but held the Cougars to their lowest-scoring display since opening day.

Pitching and great team defense were the names of the game for both squads. The two teams combined could swat just seven hits between the two units on Tuesday night.

Senior Adilynne Gregg pitched six masterful innings for the Lady Raiders, giving her team a shot to unseat the unbeaten Cougars.

The girls behind her did their jobs. Despite only two strikeouts on the night for Gregg, the team was able to stifle the state-level offensive attack from the girls of Kenton Ridge.

On the opposite mound, Ivee Rastatter had full control of the game for KR. Pitching a complete game, two-hit shutout.

Like a puzzle that could not be pieced together, hitters failed to solve the challenge that was the Sophomore Rastatter. She struck out nine and walked none. She walks out of the contest with her ERA dropping to 1.653.

As a hitter, Rastatter chipped in and got a double.

The offensive firepower for the Cougars came from Senior Annie Fincham. She torches the baseball, driving in three teammates on the night and being a key contributor to the CBC leading 12-0 Cougars.

For the Lady Raiders, the two girls who were able to put bat to ball and get a hit were Brielle Kline and Rylan Roviel. The Raiders failed to draw any walks on the night of action.

The Ben Logan Girls are back in action on Wednesday, April 15, against Graham high school at Graham.
