ST. PARIS, Ohio— Bellefontaine’s girls track and field team delivered a dominant all-around performance at the Division III district meet at Graham High School, piling up eight event titles to earn a runner-up finish with 122 points, just behind Tipp City’s 127.

The Lady Chieftains showcased depth and star power across the meet, qualifying athletes in 10 events for the regional round while receiving scoring contributions throughout.

Callie Shumaker led the charge with three district titles, sweeping both hurdle events and anchoring a winning relay. Shumaker claimed the 100-meter hurdles in 15.44 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 46.51, while also running the anchor leg on Bellefontaine’s victorious 1600-meter relay team.

That relay quartet of Jillian Ullom, Kaileigh Flora, Layla Davis and Shumaker surged to a first-place finish in 4 minutes, 15.04 seconds, capping one of the team’s signature wins of the meet.

Bellefontaine’s distance program also excelled behind veteran standout Grace Brown, who secured two district championships. Brown won the 1,600 meters in 5:15.24 and added the 3,200 title in 11:35.94. Teammate Cece Reier contributed an eighth-place finish in the 1,600 (6:15.24).

In the field events, Kelsie Snapp dominated both throwing disciplines, capturing the shot put with a mark of 42 feet, 6 inches and winning the discus at 129-2. Ella Fultz added a seventh-place finish in the shot put (26-7½).

For Snapp, she broke her own school record, as the OSU commit continues to build on an already impressive career at BHS.

Layla Davis delivered an individual title in the 400 meters, winning in 1:02.42, while Ullom placed fourth in the same race (1:03.92) to join her as a regional qualifier.

Bellefontaine also saw success in relays beyond the 1,600. The 800-meter relay team of Ullom, Davis, Stolly, and Shumaker placed second in 1:49.97 to advance.

Additional contributions came from multiple events. Sloan Stolly placed sixth in the 100 hurdles (17.25) and seventh in the 300 hurdles (52.58). Kaileigh Flora took fifth in the pole vault (8-0) and sixth in the 800 meters (2:32.01). Ullom added a sixth-place finish in the 200 (27.98), while the 400-relay team of Brooklyne Kuntz, Gia Kuba, Cameo Greene, and Stolly placed sixth in 54.69.

Bellefontaine also advanced its 3,200-meter relay team, which placed second during earlier competition Tuesday to secure a regional berth.

The Lady Chieftains’ performance was not an easy feat. The event endured multiple cancellations and reschedules to conclude on Saturday.

“The girls had a great district meet. We won eight events. We had contributions from every facet,” said a team representative. “We qualified in 10 events. The ladies battled the entire day. Kelsie snatching both throws, Callie reeling in both hurdles, veteran Grace’s double distance wins, freshman Layla’s comeback 400 win, topped off with a 4x400 victory over Tipp. We scored nearly 25 points with places fifth through eighth as well. It was a total team effort to a great district meet.”

Bellefontaine now advances a strong group into the regional meet, carrying momentum after one of its most balanced performances of the season.
