Bellefontaine City Council made short work of its regular meeting Tuesday, Aug. 11, as it breezed through its agenda in just 20 minutes, passing two ordinances and advancing a third.

The council waived the three-reading rule on both pieces of legislation that passed Tuesday.

The first ordinance is a supplemental appropriation for the Joint Recreation District that will move $500,000 from the West TIF to the District to cover the funds which went to the recent upgrades at Harmon Park. The ordinance also raised from $6,000 to $6,700 appropriations that will go toward the Myeerah Nature Preserve.

The second ordinance updated the zoning designation for the property located at 514 W. Sandusky Ave.

The property had two different zoning classifications R-2, One and Two Family Residence District, and B-1 Business District, and the building on the property straddled the two districts. The ordinance was presented as a simple housecleaning measure and made both parcels B-1, with immediate effect.

Both ordinances were passed without a dissenting vote.

The only other measure on the agenda was the second reading of an ordinance that will approve the detachment from the city to the Logan County Commission several parcels of land just north of the Logan County Fairgrounds and south of Washington Ave.

There were no dissenting votes on the second reading of the ordnance, and the land in question has already been prepared for the detachment.

The third and final reading of this ordinance is expected to take place at the next regular meeting of council.
