The Holland Theatre is preparing for a busy summer with a new ticketing system, a major community fundraiser and a slate of upcoming performances, according to a recent monthly e-mail update from Executive Director Lance Schmidt.
Beginning in June, the theatre will transition to CueBox, a ticketing service designed specifically for performing arts venues. The new system will provide patrons with a more modern online interface, including the ability to use gift cards when purchasing tickets online.
Theater staff will also gain streamlined administrative tools and expanded data to support marketing and communications efforts.
Because of the changeover, ticket sales and donation processing will be temporarily unavailable both online and in person from May 27 through June 2.
Once the transition is complete, several summer events — including the Dutch Tilt Film Festival— will be released for sale.

In addition to operational updates, Schmidt announced the Logan County Art Center fundraiser scheduled for July 10, aimed at renovating the theatre’s long-vacant second floor. The event will feature free live music indoors and outdoors, food trucks, and a live auction offering trip packages, experiences and original artwork.
The renovation project is intended to expand space for the Logan County Art Center, which currently operates out of the theater’s first floor. The upgrades will benefit several local organizations, including the Logan County Art League, LoCo Art and Windmill Productions, all of which have seen increased participation and youth programming in recent years.
Schmidt noted that the expanded space will support additional classrooms, rehearsal areas and storage for youth-focused arts programming. The project also includes plans for a renovated gallery on the first floor, further enhancing the theater’s role as a community arts hub for Logan County.
The update also highlighted upcoming performances at the Holland Theatre, including:
“Bill Purk: Backwards and Forwards” is set for May 23. Just like his new CD, Backwards and Forwards, Bill Purk celebrates 66 years of music by playing brand-new songs along with some of his favorites. The local musician, songwriter, and raconteur will be joined on stage by special guests.
Since 1984 Purk has also been a member of the Muleskinner Band, delighting audiences with bluegrass, gospel and classic country tunes. Purk says, “Come see us at the Holland – as my dad said, ‘We’ll treat you so many ways, one of ‘em’s got to be right!”
Then, “9 to 5: The Musical” is presented by Windmill Productions June 19–21. Local actors take the stage to present this hilarious story of friendship and revenge. With music and lyrics by Dolly Parton, this high-energy comedic musical is based on the 1980 film.
“Rocks Off: Tribute to the Rolling Stones” delivers the songs and sensations of the world renown rock and roll band on June 26.
From the iconic hits to the deep cuts, Rocks Off captures Mick’s moves, Keef’s riffs, Charlie's groove and the blazing Mick Taylor solos from the band’s early-1970s golden era. Based in Chicago, Rocks Off is steeped not only in the sound of the Stones, but also in the sound of the blues musicians who inspired them.
Film screenings and special events are also scheduled throughout May and early summer.
Looking ahead, Schmidt noted that the theatre will announce its 2026–27 season next month. The upcoming season is expected to feature nationally recognized talent and Windmill Productions’ most ambitious play to date.
