The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 381 hosted the first Memorial Day Ceremony for the Logan County area on Sunday, May 24, at the Huntsville Cemetery, with more than 60 people in attendance.  

The featured speaker was CWO3 Anthony Jenkins. He has served in the Army National Guard for 21 years.  

Several members of the Indian Lake High School choir, led by Tracy Notestine, sang, “Let Freedom Ring.” The National Anthem was sung by Ashley Sloan.

Kingston Henry from Calvary Christian Schools read his winning essay on "Celebrating America's 250th Birthday & Veterans Who Fought for Our Freedom." 

Benji Avila was the master of ceremonies. 

Wreaths were presented by Unit 381 Members: Gold Star Mother Wreath, Roxie Tracy; Army, Diane Mouser; Marine Corps, Christine Trout; Navy/Coast Guard, Bev Martz; Air Force/Space Force, Debi Sherer; Vietnam War, Chris Hurley; and All Wars, Terri Lamb.  

 The Honor Guard of American Legion Post 266 rendered the 21 gun salute. Taps was performed by Maddie Lease-Breakey.
