Good evening, Chronicle subscribers! Hope you’re enjoying this sunny day and perfect fall weather!
We wanted to provide some helpful information ahead of the Nov. 3 General Election, including the early in-person voting option at the Logan County Board of Elections, 225 S. Main St.
Just this afternoon, we learned through the Logan County Board of Elections’ Facebook page that Logan County is leading Ohio in early voting turnout, as of Oct. 28.
“We want to take a moment and recognize the voters of Logan County. So far this election, Logan County has the highest percentage of voters having already voted in the State of Ohio,” Board of Elections officials said.
The Top 5 by turnout percentage:
Logan County - 26.67 percent
Medina County - 22.71 percent
Union County - 22.22 percent
Defiance County - 21.32 percent
Geauga County - 21.15 percent
Here’s some more details about the remaining early voting hours that continue through this weekend:
Among the local issues on the Nov. 3 ballot is Bellefontaine City Schools’ 1 percent earned income tax levy. In our Oct. 23 print edition and online below, we have details about the district’s current financial picture from Superintendent Brad Hall, including the dwindling state funding, and what the levy means for taxpayers:
In addition, Logan County voters will consider a levy request from the Logan County Board of Disabilities - a temporary five-year, 2-mill levy for the Logan County Board of Developmental Disabilities. The proposed levy comes after more than two decades without additional local levy funding for the LCBDD:
The second countywide issue is a five-year renewal levy request by the Logan County Board of Commissioners for the 0.5 percent sales and use tax. This 0.5 percent sales tax for roads and bridges was first passed in 1997, and if approved by voters again, the tax would not change.
The sales tax funds are divided as follows: 25 percent- County roads and bridges and stormwater within the right-of-way; 25 percent - Logan County Sheriff’s Office; 20 percent - Township roads and bridges and stormwater within the right-of-way; 20 percent- Municipal roads and bridges and stormwater within the right-of-way; 10 percent - Economic development and land use planning.
Coming up in this Friday’s edition of the paper, read more about the need for Indian Lake EMS’ proposed 8-mill, five-year operating levy and the services it would cover.
We also have a dedicated General Election 2026 section of our website, where you also can check out statewide candidates and more:
Thanks for reading and be sure to make your vote count, either through early voting or on Election Day at your precinct on Nov. 3!
Have a great evening,
