
Jeep owners across the country are being urged to take immediate precautions after automaker Stellantis announced a massive recall involving more than 1 million vehicles due to a potential fire hazard.
The recall affects certain 2021 through 2025 Jeep Wrangler SUVs and Jeep Gladiator pickup trucks. According to federal safety filings, an electrical issue involving the vehicles’ electric-hydraulic power steering system could cause wiring to overheat, potentially leading to a fire—even when the vehicle is parked and turned off, Reuters reports.
Stellantis has advised owners of affected vehicles to park outdoors and away from buildings, garages, and other vehicles until repairs can be completed. The company says the risk is rare but significant enough to warrant immediate action.
