The 1985 adventure comedy film Goonies on the big outdoor screen and good times aplenty are planned for Saturday, May 23, at the grand opening for Pattie’s Place in Lakeview.

“This is our place, but it’s your home,” the family said via their Facebook page in an introductory video about their newly opening family-friendly destination and the upcoming festivities.

Also planned for the grand opening May 23, beginning from 9 to 11 a.m. are local food trucks, craft vendors, family activities, outdoor games and photo opportunities, the outdoor movie with concessions.

In recent months, Pattie’s Place owners Todd and Theresa Dronsfield and their family have been prepping the new site at 13534 State Route 235, including installing the outdoor movie screen.

“We’re excited to be a part of the Indian Lake community. For many years, we’ve been involved in local festivals and events,” the couple shared via Facebook.

Theresa spent her growing up years coming to Indian Lake, and said the area has “always felt like home.” She is the founder of the Sunbury Sizzle & Sounds Food & Music Festival.

Todd has designed and built every part of the pair’s business ventures, including the Giant Lemonade Cup and Giant Lemonade Truck.

“After spending the last couple years here full time, we’ve recently purchased a small commercial property in Lakeview, where we’re creating a new gathering spot for families and friends,” the owners said of Pattie’s Place.

“The space already includes a pizza and sub shop that, together with our family, we’re fixing up and are adding to with plans for: outdoor movies, an arcade, farmers’ markets, special events and more.”

“Together, we’ve always enjoyed bringing people together through food, music and good company.”

Goonies is the kick off movie for a slate of movie titles planned this summer, including E.T. on May 30; Ready Player One on June 6; Holes on June 20; and Hook on June 27. Movies start at dusk and are $5 per person, or $20 per family (up to five people).

Thirty golf cart spots are available for the movie nights. Take blankets and chairs in case spots are full.

In addition, a McGuffey Lane concert is planned for July 18; and Gypsy Kyngs on Sept. 5.

“Our goal isn’t just to open another business – we want to build a space that supports local families, small businesses and the spirit of Indian Lake. We can’t wait to share it with you and make all the old traditions new again,” Todd and Theresa said.
