For more than three decades, TCN Behavioral Health has been honored to serve area residents, offering compassionate, quality care for clients and their families in a close to home setting.

Through changing times and evolving needs in the past, Associate CEO Tom Otto said TCN has been committed to supporting the mental health needs of local youth and adults in Logan and Champaign counties through caring and professional treatment options.

That strong dedication continues today, as Otto said TCN remains open and fully available to its clients, despite a loss of levy funding from the Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Services Board of Logan and Champaign Counties, as of July 1.

TCN emphasized that the change does not affect the clients’ ability to continue receiving care, and no current clients need to switch providers or take any action to remain with TCN.

“We are still here to help. For us, the important thing is that we remain in Logan and Champaign counties,” said Otto, who has served with TCN for 28 years, beginning as an intern while working on his master’s degree.

“It’s a mission of service. We’re fully invested and are grateful to our communities.”

TCN’s Bellefontaine office, located at 118 Maple Ave., can be reached at (937) 599-1975. Its Urbana office, located at 1522 E. U.S. Route 36, Suite A, can be reached at (937) 653-5583.

As of June 30, TCN closed its West Liberty office that had been located at the MHDAS facility, 1521 N. Detroit St., West Liberty.

Services remain available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Bellefontaine and Urbana, with options for both in-person appointments and telehealth.

Walk-in clinics also remain available for new clients, with check-ins taking place from 8 to 8:30 a.m. The Bellefontaine walk-in clinics are offered Monday and Wednesday mornings, and at the Urbana office, these clinics take place Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

Medication-assisted services take place on Monday in Urbana, and on Thursday in Bellefontaine, the associate CEO noted.

The agency reports that appointments and services are continuing without interruption. TCN continues to accept Medicaid, Medicare and most commercial insurance plans, and self-pay options remain available.

For those with coverage-related questions, staff can help clients explore payment options, Otto related.

TCN offers a comprehensive range of Mental Health (MH) and Substance Use Disorder (SUD) treatment groups designed to support adults at every stage of recovery. Led by licensed professionals, these groups focus on skill-building, education, and relapse prevention while promoting long-term stability and wellness.

For individuals with substance use disorders, TCN provides multiple levels of care. High-support options like the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) serve those with severe needs or relapse history.

Step-down services, including Standard Outpatient (SOP) and Marijuana Outpatient (MOP), help individuals maintain progress, while Aftercare and Relapse Prevention (ACRP) and Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) groups reinforce ongoing recovery.

TCN also addresses co-occurring conditions through Dual Diagnosis Recovery (DDR) groups, which integrate mental health and substance use treatment. Specialized programming, such as Women Rising to Live in Today, offers trauma-informed support for specific populations.

Mental health-focused groups further enhance overall well-being by building emotional regulation and coping skills. Offerings like Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Mental Health 101, Non-Violent Conflict Resolution, Trauma Healing & Support, and Eating Disorder Therapy provide education, support, and practical tools for managing life’s challenges.

Together, these services form a flexible and accessible continuum of care, available in-person and via telehealth, helping individuals achieve lasting recovery and improved mental health.

In addition to the Bellefontaine and Urbana sites, TCN serves clients with brick and mortar locations in Miami, Green and Montgomery counties as well.

Despite losing the funding from the local MHDAS Board, TCN is supported by three other funding boards – the Mental Health Recovery Board of Clark, Green and Madison Counties; the Tri-County Board of Recovery & Mental Health Services of Miami, Darke and Shelby Counties; and the Montgomery County Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services.

TCN Behavioral Health has physically been in Logan and Champaign counties since its acquisition of Consolidated Care in 2019. Prior to that, Consolidated Care was the long-term provider of comprehensive services for decades.

“We were happy to step up into this role seven years ago,” Otto said. “And we hope that we can be reconsidered again once federal funding comes back through the MHDAS Board next year.”

For anyone experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis, help is available 24 hours a day by calling or texting 988, the National Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

TCN leaders said the message to the community is simple: the organization remains open, services remain accessible and its dedication to Logan and Champaign county residents has not changed.
