There are some stories we read in a history book and promptly forget, and then there are stories we paint on a wall.
A new America 250 mural in Zanesfield is doing just that, putting a piece of Logan County’s history where everyone can see it, while giving local students the opportunity to become the storytellers themselves. A dedication and celebration for the new piece, located on an exterior wall of Firehouse Pizza & Subs, 2793 Sandusky St., Zanesfield, took place Saturday afternoon, Sept. 12.
The mural, funded in part through a Logan County Visitors Bureau grant, tells the story of Logan County’s Native American history. But perhaps one of the most meaningful parts of the project is that much of the story was created by the hands of young people who live here.
