The Chieftain baseball team (3-0) remains perfect on the young season with a win Monday night, April 6, against Tecumseh (2-2), 4-2 in a Central Buckeye Conference matchup.
A strong pitching performance from Junior Spencer Stolly fueled the way for the Chiefs. He threw six dazzling innings of one-run ball, striking out nine batters without walking a batter during his time on the mound.
Behind Stolly was a black hole of a defense. When the batter wasn’t punched out, the defense was making play after play, holding the Arrows to only four hits, only one of which went for extra bases.
The B-town squad started strong in this game. They jumped out to a 1-0 lead after the first inning, and then doubled down to make it 2-0 heading into the third inning

Spencer Stolly delivers a pitch to home plate in Monday’s 4-2 win over Tecumseh.
The offensive firepower during the night was well dispersed for the Chieftains, with five players getting a hit, and three players recording a run batted in. Leading the charge was Senior Cayleb Overmann, having two hits and an RBI.
The Chiefs played a smart brand of baseball Monday night. To go along with six hits, the team showed great plate discipline and drew five walks on the night, along with one hit by pitch to get six free passes to first base on the night.
In the fourth inning, the Chiefs tacked on 2 more runs to make the lead swell to 4-0 in favor of the hometown team.
It was not until the fifth inning that the Arrows could finally break through and notch a run on Stolly, making the score 4-1, and a three-run deficit heading into the final two frames of action.
Stolly left the game at the conclusion of the sixth inning and passed the ball over to fellow Junior Aiden Smith, who earned the final three outs of the game, after a bit of turmoil, to conclude the game 4-2, and the Chiefs a perfect 3-0 record on the season.
These two teams will meet again Wednesday night, this time in New Carlisle at Tecumseh High School.
