The Bellefontaine High School girls cross country team put together a dominant performance at the Kiwanis Logan County Cross Country Meet, using a strong showing from its front pack to capture the county championship.

The Chieftains were led by a 1-2-3 individual finish, as Grace Brown, Cece Reier and Hannah Wilson crossed the finish line at the top of the field.

Brown set the pace for Bellefontaine, winning the individual title with a time of 12:25. Reier followed in second at 13:53, while Wilson rounded out the top three with a time of 14:07.

The Chieftains' success, however, went well beyond their top three runners.

Bellefontaine placed seven runners among the top 10, showcasing the depth and pack running that ultimately separated the Chieftains from the rest of the county field.

Chloe O'Chocke finished sixth overall in 14:31, followed closely by teammate Cameo Greene, who crossed the line seventh at 14:33. Camila Cely-Hernandez also recorded a time of 14:33 to finish eighth.

Leila Hammond completed Bellefontaine's top-seven finishers, placing ninth overall with a time of 14:54.

Alivia Owens also competed for the Chieftains, finishing 18th in 17:02.

The performance was especially impressive considering the challenging heat. Rather than allowing the conditions to dictate the race, Bellefontaine maintained its composure and relied on its depth throughout the course.

With three runners occupying the top three spots and seven finishing inside the top 10, the Chieftains demonstrated the value of running as a group and putting multiple runners in position to score.

The county championship gives Bellefontaine another strong result as the season progresses and provides momentum heading into the team's next major test.

The Chieftains will return to action Sept. 19 at the Celtic Clash at Dublin Jerome.
