BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio — The Benjamin Logan Lady Raiders saw their postseason run come to an end Tuesday night, falling 4-1 to Greenon in the OHSAA district semifinals on their home field. Despite the defeat, Benjamin Logan closes the season with a 13-4-2 record, a sectional championship and another successful campaign that added to the program's recent accomplishments.
The Lady Raiders battled Greenon throughout the contest, keeping the match competitive before a late scoring surge by the Knights proved decisive.
Greenon broke through with a goal four minutes before halftime, taking a 1-0 advantage into the break. Benjamin Logan responded in the second half, continuing to fight for an equalizer as the Raiders looked to extend their postseason run.
Their persistence paid off with 19:30 remaining in the match, when Daylin Varner found the back of the net to bring Benjamin Logan level at 1-1. The goal gave the Raiders renewed momentum and put them back in contention as they sought a potential game-winning score.
However, Greenon answered just 45 seconds later, quickly reclaiming the lead and shifting the momentum back in its favor. The Knights maintained their advantage before adding two insurance goals in the final nine minutes to secure the 4-1 victory and end Benjamin Logan's season in the district semifinals.
While the final score marked a disappointing end to the Raiders' postseason journey, the loss does little to diminish what the team accomplished throughout the season. Benjamin Logan captured a sectional championship and finished with 13 victories, continuing a period of success for the program.

Head coach Hughes, alongside coach Goldstein, expressed pride in the team's achievements over the past two seasons, particularly the contributions of the senior class.
"Coach Goldstein and I are incredibly proud for what this team and these seniors have accomplished the past two years," Hughes said. "The last two years we have 27 wins to only 8 losses and 2 sectional titles, missing out on 2 league championships by a total of 1 point."
The Raiders' success over that span reflects a program that has consistently competed at a high level. With 27 victories, just eight losses and two sectional championships across the last two seasons, Benjamin Logan has established a strong foundation for continued success. The team also came within a combined point of capturing two league championships, underscoring just how competitive the Raiders have been.
For the seniors, Tuesday's defeat marked the end of their high school careers, bringing an emotional conclusion to a group that helped lead the program through two memorable seasons.
Hughes acknowledged the difficulty of seeing a season come to an end while encouraging his players to appreciate what they accomplished together.
"It's always sad when it comes to an end because only 5 teams in the state end on a win, but I hope our kids reflect and understand how special of a season this has been, and those fun memories will last forever," Hughes said.
Although the Raiders fell short of their ultimate postseason goal, their sectional championship and 13-4-2 finish stand as evidence of a successful season. The team's accomplishments, along with the memories created throughout the year, will remain defining parts of a campaign that brought plenty of reasons for pride to Benjamin Logan.
The final whistle may have ended the Raiders' season, but it did not erase what this group achieved. With two sectional titles in two years and 27 wins during that stretch, Benjamin Logan's seniors leave behind a legacy of success that the program can build upon in the seasons ahead.
