Nominations are being accepted through Sept. 26 for The Best of Logan County 2026, giving residents an opportunity to recognize the businesses, organizations, people and places that make their community special. Nominations can be submitted at BestOfLoganCounty.com, with the nomination period closing at midnight Eastern time at the end of Sept. 26.
The Logan County Chronicle has partnered with the Logan County Visitors Bureau to bring new life and a renewed vision to the awards program. The two organizations are presenting this year’s campaign with support from the Logan County Chamber of Commerce and the Indian Lake Area Chamber of Commerce as community partners.
The refreshed effort is about more than recognizing a familiar business name. It is a chance to highlight the service, experiences and everyday contributions behind Logan County’s local favorites. Through community nominations, residents can share not only whom they appreciate, but why — whether it is a business that consistently goes the extra mile, an organization that brings people together or a destination they recommend to everyone who visits. That emphasis on personal experiences is central to the campaign’s invitation to nominate.
The categories reflect the many ways people experience Logan County. Food and hospitality categories include Best Pizza, Best Burger, Best Coffee Shop, Best Food Truck and Best Place to Stay. Other categories recognize professional services, healthcare, shopping, customer service and community contributions. Residents can also nominate favorites for Best Annual Event, Best Family Attraction, Best Community Organization and Best New Business, among others. To participate, visitors to the website should identify their nominee, select a category, provide the town or location and explain why that nominee deserves recognition. The form also requests the nominator’s name, email address and phone number to help administer the nomination. A specific example — a memorable visit, exceptional service or a meaningful contribution to the community — can help explain what makes a nominee stand out.
Each nomination submission identifies one nominee in one category. Businesses may ultimately participate in only one category. When a business receives nominations in multiple categories, the business chooses which category to accept. Importantly, a nomination is not a vote: this first phase is the opportunity to put local favorites forward before voting begins.
The 2026 schedule has three stages. Nominations opened Sept. 13 and continue through Sept. 26. Voting will run Oct. 4–25, and results will be announced Nov. 2. Both the nomination and voting rounds close at midnight Eastern time at the end of their respective final days.
The upcoming voting phase will include in-person paper ballots at participating businesses, digital ballots and video votes. Each video vote will count as three votes, with the three highest total vote-getters in each category recognized as finalists. The Chronicle will publish a separate article when voting begins to explain the voting process and how to participate.
A separate Kids’ Choice component will involve a small group of Logan County elementary students, with categories for pizza, ice cream, French fries and favorite sweet treat.
For now, the focus is on making sure local favorites are nominated before the first deadline. Readers are encouraged to think about the places they return to, the businesses they trust and the experiences they would recommend to a friend — then share what makes them worth recognizing.
