The Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award was established in1989 by Ohio’s educational service center superintendents to recognize outstanding student achievement. Dr. Franklin B. Walter served as State Superintendent from 1977-1991.
During his tenure, Dr. Walter worked with three governors and significantly improved public education in Ohio. Dr. Walter passed away on September 15, 2010, at the age of 80.
“Ohio’s ESCs have over a century of service in providing technical assistance and support to Ohio’s schools and students, and during this event we get to see the impact of that work,” added Burford.
“We look forward to our continued partnership with students and families, school district leadership and state policymakers to ensure students have equal access to high quality educational opportunities and experiences regardless of where they live and attend school.”
