Brian L. Holder, 56, of Lakeview, OH, passed away peacefully, Friday afternoon, July 31, 2026, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Brian was born on January 4, 1970, in Bellefontaine, OH, a son of the late Daniel A. Holder, III, and Linda D. (Snell) Holder, who survives. Brian married Brenda (Brown) Moots on June 9, 2018, and she survives. He is also survived by four children, Daniel (Becky) Holder, Bryson Holder, Adam (Ross Gore) Holder, and Bostyn (Drew Hawkins) Moots; three siblings, Heidi (Donnie) Robb, Barry (Amee) Holder, and Brad (Danielle) Holder; brothers and sister-in-law, Bret Brown and Amy (Ward) Cartwright; and several nieces and nephews. Holder was slow to speak and quick to listen. An avid hunter of deer, duck, geese and groundhog, the occasional fisherman and quite the marksman. He was a certified bow technician, NASP instructor and CCW instructor, where he spent the last 14 years working beside his wife in their family businesses, teaching and sharing his knowledge inside Indian Lake Outfitters and The Depot. Later he would often be found hiding out next door drinking a Pepsi, which led to the legacy he’s leaving behind now known as Holder’s Hideaway. A dream he gifted his wife to enjoy for retirement. Holder loved sports, especially his Buckeyes, Bengals, Bills, Cincinnati Reds and his fantasy teams. He was an accomplished Master Gardener, history buff, penny collector and road trip pioneer, known to sleep in his truck for long travel in lieu of a hotel room. He enjoyed loud music, (really loud music), painting, being outdoors, camping, reading, a good game of monopoly and Jesus. He never wavered in his faith and would share his love for the Bible often. The next best thing for him was his family and circle of friends. Although he would say he didn’t have favorites, you could tell where you stood when his little Charli Del and Cash came around. They quickly became his world, as he did theirs, and soon was more than just Holder, he was Pig Pug. Holder loved to do for others and was always working to please someone else and leave a good impression, a lasting impression he has left. One with kindness, compassion, faith and love. Selflessness at its best. Pastor Bryan Meadows will begin funeral services at 3 pm, Thursday, August 6th at Cornerstone Church at Huntsville, 6611 Fruit St, Huntsville. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 5th from 1-3 pm and 5-7 pm at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St., Lakeview, and Thursday from 2-3 pm at the church. In honoring Holder’s love of sports, his family request casual attire supporting his favorite teams of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Reds, and Cincinnati Bengals.
