Bengals Quarterback Joe Burrow stretches before a game against the Titans. (CINCINNATI BENGALS)

The Cincinnati Bengals (5-2) welcomed the Tennessee Titans (1-7) to Paycor Stadium on Sunday in a matchup that turned into one of the wildest offensive battles of the NFL season. Cincinnati entered the contest looking to continue building momentum, while Tennessee came in hoping to turn its season around against a Bengals team that had found its rhythm offensively.

What followed was a back-and-forth shootout that featured 79 combined points, multiple lead changes, four interceptions and a dramatic overtime finish.

The Bengals would ultimately come away with the 43-36 victory, but it certainly did not come easy.

Tennessee wasted little time getting on the scoreboard, opening the afternoon with a 46-yard Joey Slye field goal before running back Tony Pollard broke loose for a 40-yard touchdown run to put the Titans ahead 10-0.

After another Slye field goal extended the lead to 13-0, Cincinnati found itself in an early hole and searching for answers.

Quarterback Joe Burrow and the Bengals offense finally got going in the second quarter. Facing a third-and-long situation, Burrow climbed the pocket and delivered a 30-yard touchdown strike to wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase, cutting the Tennessee advantage to 13-7.

Cincinnati continued to find its footing as the half progressed, and with just 20 seconds remaining before halftime, Burrow connected with rookie tight end Jack Endries for a 1-yard touchdown. The score gave the Bengals their first lead of the afternoon at 14-13 heading into the locker room.

The momentum carried into the second half, as Burrow found wide receiver Tee Higgins for a 17-yard touchdown early in the third quarter, extending Cincinnati's lead to 21-13.

However, Tennessee was not going away quietly. Pollard found the end zone again on a 1-yard touchdown run, and quarterback Cam Ward added a successful two-point conversion to even the score at 21-21.

The Bengals answered with a defensive play of their own, as defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence II and linebacker Demetrius Knight Jr. teamed up to stop Pollard in the end zone for a safety. The play gave Cincinnati a 23-21 advantage heading into the fourth quarter.

The final 15 minutes would provide plenty of drama.

Ward connected with wide receiver Chimere Dike for an 11-yard touchdown to put Tennessee back in front, 28-23. Cincinnati responded with another impressive offensive possession, as Burrow found tight end Mike Gesicki for a 25-yard touchdown pass. The Bengals failed on the two-point conversion attempt but reclaimed the lead, 29-28.

Tennessee answered once again, with Ward connecting with Wan'Dale Robinson for a 15-yard touchdown. The Titans converted the two-point attempt and took a 36-29 lead with just under four minutes remaining.

With the game on the line, Burrow delivered.

The Bengals quarterback led Cincinnati down the field and found Higgins for an 18-yard touchdown with just 1:17 remaining. Evan McPherson converted the extra point to tie the game at 36-36 and send the contest into overtime.

Cincinnati received the ball to open the extra period and wasted little time putting the game away. Burrow led a five-play, 70-yard drive, capping it himself with a 9-yard touchdown run to give the Bengals a 43-36 advantage.

Tennessee had one final opportunity to answer, but Cincinnati's defense stood tall. The Bengals forced a turnover on downs on the Titans' ensuing possession, sealing the overtime victory in front of the home crowd.

Burrow finished the afternoon with a monster performance, completing 38 of 48 passes for 462 yards and five touchdowns. He also added the game-winning rushing touchdown, accounting for six total scores despite throwing three interceptions.

The Bengals quarterback received plenty of help from his top receiving options. Higgins led the way with 10 receptions for 155 yards and two touchdowns, while Chase finished with 11 catches for 141 yards and a touchdown. Gesicki added four receptions for 76 yards and a score.

For Tennessee, Ward put together one of the strongest performances of his young career, completing 26 of 40 passes for a career-high 304 yards and two touchdowns. Pollard was equally impressive on the ground, carrying the ball 21 times for 117 yards and two touchdowns.

Despite the offensive production, the Titans were unable to overcome Cincinnati's late-game execution and defensive stops.

The victory moved Cincinnati to 5-2 on the season, extending its winning streak to three games and keeping the Bengals firmly in the AFC playoff picture. Tennessee, meanwhile, dropped to 1-7 after another difficult afternoon.

For Cincinnati, Sunday's win was another reminder of what the offense can accomplish when Burrow, Chase and Higgins are operating at full speed. However, allowing 36 points and surrendering three interceptions worth of opportunities will leave plenty for the Bengals to address moving forward.

Still, when the game was on the line, Burrow delivered the finishing blow.

After falling behind 13-0 and trailing by seven late in the fourth quarter, the Bengals found a way to fight back, survive overtime and walk away with a hard-earned victory.
