The Riverside Pirates turned to a balanced rushing attack and a disruptive defensive effort to take care of business against the Bethel Bees in their Week 6 matchup.

Riverside’s ground game provided the bulk of the offense, with Gunner Carpenter and Dylan Trimble combining for nearly 300 rushing yards and five touchdowns.

Carpenter led the way with 147 yards on 21 carries, averaging 7.0 yards per attempt. He found the end zone three times and broke off a game-long run of 29 yards.

Trimble was nearly as productive, carrying the ball 20 times for 148 yards and two touchdowns. He averaged 7.4 yards per carry, with a long run of 13 yards.

Justin Mazariegos also contributed to the Pirates’ rushing attack, finishing with 26 yards and a touchdown on six carries.

Through the air, quarterback Brody Orsborne completed 4 of 5 passes for 53 yards without throwing an interception. David Gross accounted for the biggest reception of the night, hauling in one pass for 27 yards, while Trimble added two catches for 22 yards.

Orsborne also contributed defensively, recording four tackles and coming away with an interception. That makes 3 interceptions in the last two weeks for the signal caller on both sides.

The Pirates' defense consistently made its presence felt, with several players contributing tackles for loss. Carpenter and Gabe Steineman each recorded a tackle for loss, while Cruz Parker, Liam Shoe and Bryson Eaton also registered stops behind the line of scrimmage.

Steineman paced Riverside with seven total tackles, including five solo stops and three assists. Carpenter finished with eight total tackles, while Parker added six.

The defensive effort helped Riverside control the game on both sides of the ball, while the Pirates' rushing attack continued to provide a reliable offensive foundation.

With Carpenter and Trimble leading the charge, Riverside showcased the kind of ground attack that can wear down opposing defenses as the season enters its second half.

The Pirates will look to carry that momentum into Week 7 as they continue their push through the Three Rivers Conference schedule.
