The Chiefs play defense during a match agains the Kenton Ridge Cougars on October 7th. PRESTON SHIELDS CHRONICLE STAFF.

The Bellefontaine Chiefs volleyball team closed out its home schedule Tuesday night, but the evening was about more than the final score.

Bellefontaine fell to Kenton Ridge in straight sets, 25-12, 25-11 and 25-19, but the match also served as a celebration of four seniors who have helped shape the Chiefs program throughout their careers.

Jillian Ullom, Ava Layman, Alayna Boyd and Presley Vigansky were honored as they played their final home match in a Bellefontaine uniform.

For Vigansky, the night included a milestone of her own. In the middle of the opening set, the senior setter recorded the 500th assist of her career, adding another accomplishment to an evening already filled with significance.

Ullom has been one of the Chiefs' defensive anchors throughout her senior season and currently holds a sizable lead in the Central Buckeye Conference in total digs. She enters the final stretch of the season with 323 digs, a testament to her consistency and willingness to keep plays alive from the back row.

Layman has provided a major offensive presence for Bellefontaine from the net. As the regular season winds down, she sits sixth in the conference in kills, establishing herself as one of the CBC's more productive attackers.

Boyd has also made her mark offensively this season, surpassing 100 kills on the year and giving the Chiefs another reliable option at the net. Her production has helped form a strong front-row combination alongside Layman throughout the season.

While the Chiefs were unable to send their seniors out with a victory, Tuesday's match marked an important moment for a group that has contributed plenty to the program.

With the home portion of the schedule now complete, Bellefontaine will turn its attention toward the postseason, carrying the experience and contributions of Ullom, Layman, Boyd and Vigansky with it.
