BELLEFONTAINE This summer, Community Health & Wellness Partners (CHWP) is lacing up for some summer fun. The organization is challenging both Logan and Champaign Counties to join them in a 100 Miles in 100 Days.

Beginning May 25 and running through Sept. 1, participants are encouraged to complete an average of one mile of movement per day over the course of 100 days.

The math is simple: 100 miles, 100 days, one mile at a time. But the concept behind the challenge is something far more meaningful: building a habit of movement that fits real life, for real people.

What sets this challenge apart is its flexibility. A mile isn't defined by distance alone; it's defined by effort and consistency. Any continuous movement lasting 20 minutes counts as one mile, regardless of the activity. Walking around the neighborhood, swimming laps, dancing in the living room, tending a garden, cycling a trail or propelling a wheelchair, it all counts. The goal is to keep your body moving.

Regular physical activity is one of the most powerful tools available for supporting your overall health. Whether you’re looking to lower blood pressure, improve cholesterol levels, reduce risk of type 2 diabetes, achieve better mental health outcomes, or increase strength and mobility, this challenge is a chance to build connection and improve long-term health and longevity.

Neighbors, families, coworkers and friends can take on the challenge together. Participants are encouraged to track their miles using any method that works for them, such as a fitness app, a smartwatch, or even a simple paper log, and to share their progress on social media using the hashtag #CHWP100Miles.

No registration fee. No equipment required. No minimum fitness level. Just a willingness to move a little every day and the support of a community doing it alongside you.

Registration for the 100 Miles in 100 Days Challenge is free and open to all community members. To sign up or learn more, visit CHWPcares.org or follow CHWP on social media.
