Law enforcement officers from around Logan County gathered in the parking lot of Mad River Mountain to kick off this summer’s Click It or Ticket campaign Thursday, May 14, ahead of Memorial Day weekend.

Lt. Matt Himes, Marysville Post commander with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, said the Logan County Sheriff’s Office along with officers from Bellefontaine, Russells Point, West Mansfield, Washington Township and West Liberty police departments are all collaborating with the state highway patrol to remind people to buckle up.

“Wearing a safety belt is the single most effective way to save lives in a crash,” Lt. Himes asserted. “During the summer months, especially here in Logan County, we have more motorists traveling, visiting Indian Lake, going to graduation parties and summer vacations. We see a huge increase in traffic, particularly on 33.”

He added that although not wearing a safety belt is a secondary violation, troopers have zero tolerance for the infraction. If you are stopped for any violation and found not wearing your seatbelt, you will be issued a citation.
