Logan County is one of 73 counties in Ohio that has received a $230,000 grant under the Building Demolition and Site Revitalization Program, which will go toward razing existing unsafe, blighted buildings.

The grants were announced by the Governor Mike DeWine and the Ohio Department of Development July 17.

Currently, Ohio has set aside $21.5 million each fiscal year for these grants, which allow communities to demolish dilapidated residential and commercial buildings and prepare the sites for future economic development.

Since the program was initiated, the Building Demolition and Site Revitalization grants have distributed over $325 million to all 88 counties in Ohio, supporting nearly 6,700 demolition projects.

The Building Demolition and Site Revitalization Program is part of Governor DeWine’s Ohio BUILDS Initiative, which focuses on supporting targeted solutions that impact quality of life, such as water infrastructure improvements, broadband expansion, brownfield redevelopment, the demolition of blighted buildings, and more.

"Every community deserves places that inspire pride and create opportunity," said Governor DeWine. "By helping remove long-vacant, unsafe buildings, we're giving local leaders the chance to reimagine these properties in ways that strengthen neighborhoods, attract investment, and improve quality of life for the people who call Ohio home."

The grant given to Logan County will be used to raze the buildings on the following properties:

Huntsville
