Incoming Benjamin Logan High School junior Tony Tambaro, second from the right, and his art teacher Jennifer Davis, pictured at the far right, hold up the large painted canvas he created for a sign project for the En Gedi Ridge Zoo, 8684 N. US Route 68, Rushsylvania. His beautiful work of art, along with the new sign at the left, was unveiled Wednesday, July 8, during a ribbon cutting celebration with the Logan County Chamber of Commerce and the Logan County Visitors Bureau. Last fall, zoo owners Trent and Krista Reynolds received grant funds from the Logan County Visitors Bureau for the new sign and Krista reached out to Mrs Davis about painting it. Mrs. Davis suggested that a student take on the project — and Tony eagerly took on this effort. His large painted canvas was later transformed into a permanent outdoor sign by his grandmother’s professional sign company, JP Signs near Dayton. See the July 17 edition of the Chronicle for a feature story on this artistic endeavor and zoo project. (NITA WILKINSON | THE CHRONICLE)
