Residents seeking health resources, harm reduction supplies and referrals now have expanded access through the Logan County Health District's newly enhanced Wellness Your Way program.
Previously offered as a Wellness Wednesday initiative, the program has expanded to provide services Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Logan County Health District, 310 S. Main St., Bellefontaine. The program is designed to connect individuals with health resources, education and support services that promote safer, healthier outcomes for community members.
Wellness Your Way is committed to serving as a healthy resource for area residents by offering harm reduction materials, health information and care referrals to help create a healthier and safer community.
The program provides a variety of free services and supplies, including counseling referrals, infection prevention resources, health education materials and referrals for treatment through the Community Health & Wellness Partners (CHWP). Residents can also access HIV and syphilis testing, hepatitis A and hepatitis B vaccines, wound care supplies and medication lock boxes.
In addition, Wellness Your Way offers harm reduction supplies such as fentanyl test strips, Narcan kits and training, harm reduction kits, safe-sex kits, condoms, sterile water, syringes provided on a needs-based basis, lubricating jelly, alcohol prep pads, bacitracin ointment, bandages and discard containers for safe disposal of used materials.
Health officials note that harm reduction programs are intended to reduce the risk of disease transmission, prevent overdoses and connect individuals to health care and treatment resources while improving overall community health outcomes. The program also serves as a point of contact for individuals seeking information, support or referrals to additional services.
