Indian Lake Girls Cross Country awaits the start of the Regional race in Troy. (INDIAN LAKE CROSS COUNTRY)

TROY — The Indian Lake cross country teams wrapped up their postseason competition Saturday at the OHSAA Division III Regional Championships in Troy, with several Lakers delivering strong performances and two seniors closing the book on their high school running careers.

On the girls side, Laura Metzger led Indian Lake with a 51st-place finish, crossing the line in 21:48. Senior Kayleigh Taylor followed with an impressive performance, placing 80th in 22:46 while recording a new personal record.

Taylor's final high school race was especially meaningful, as she broke into the top 50 on Indian Lake's all-time girls cross country performance list. Senior teammate Haley Metzger also concluded her high school career Saturday, finishing 116th with a time of 24:11. Haley has likewise earned a place among the program's top 50 all-time performances.

Abby Arnett rounded out the girls lineup, finishing 135th in 25:45.

The regional meet marked the final chapter for Taylor and Haley, two seniors who have made lasting contributions to the Indian Lake program. The team also recognized senior Alicia Brielmaier, who moved up the program's top 50 all-time performance list at the Central Buckeye Conference meet earlier this season.

With six years of memories behind the program's senior class, Indian Lake reflected on the accomplishments and dedication of its departing runners.

On the boys side, the Lakers were represented by a pair of underclassmen who gained valuable postseason experience against a competitive regional field.

Sophomore Nathan White led the Indian Lake boys, finishing 81st with a time of 18:29. Freshman Hayden Kuhlke followed closely behind, placing 85th in 18:39.

Both runners will have the opportunity to build on their regional experience as they look toward the future of the program.

Although the regional championships brought the season to a close for Indian Lake, the Lakers have plenty of accomplishments to celebrate. From personal records and all-time program rankings to the continued development of a young boys lineup, the Lakers represented their school well throughout the postseason.

For the seniors, Saturday marked the end of their high school cross country careers, but their contributions and memories will remain part of the Indian Lake program for years to come
