Indian Lake wasted little time seizing control Friday night, scoring five first-half touchdowns and cruising to a 42-9 victory over Northwestern in a dominant road performance.
The Lakers struck early and often behind quarterback Brady Golldiay, who accounted for five total touchdowns while leading an offense that piled up 394 total yards. Indian Lake built a 35-3 halftime advantage and never allowed the Warriors to threaten.
Golldiay opened the scoring with a 14-yard touchdown run midway through the first quarter, then connected with Brodey Reisinger for a 19-yard touchdown pass less than three minutes later. After another scoring strike, this time a 54-yard connection to Colin Bendler, Indian Lake held a commanding 21-0 lead before the opening period ended.
The Lakers continued their offensive barrage in the second quarter. Golldiay found Reisinger on a 68-yard touchdown pass for the team's fourth score of the night before adding a 9-yard rushing touchdown to stretch the lead to 35-0. Northwestern avoided a first-half shutout with a 27-yard field goal as time expired in the second quarter.
Indian Lake added its final touchdown midway through the third quarter when Reed Strayer broke free for a 13-yard scoring run. Northwestern's lone touchdown came in the fourth quarter on a 9-yard pass from Mason Luczynski to Blake Wieneke.
Golldiay finished an efficient 8-of-13 passing for 234 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 70 yards and two scores on seven carries.
Reisinger was the Lakers' top receiving target, hauling in five catches for 152 yards and two touchdowns, including the 68-yard scoring reception. Bendler added a 54-yard touchdown catch, while Strayer contributed 71 rushing yards and a touchdown and added a reception for 24 yards.
Indian Lake's defense was equally impressive, limiting Northwestern to just 62 total yards, including minus-8 rushing yards, while forcing two interceptions. Reisinger recorded both picks as the Lakers consistently disrupted the Warriors' offense.
Northwestern quarterback Luczynski completed 11 of 28 passes for 70 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Logan Errett led the Warriors' receiving corps with four catches for 37 yards.
The Lakers finished with 160 rushing yards and 234 passing yards, averaging seven yards per carry while controlling all phases of the game. Kicker Corbin Wilson remained perfect on the night, converting all six extra-point attempts.
With the victory, Indian Lake showcased the balanced offense and opportunistic defense that have made the Lakers a difficult matchup as the postseason approaches.
