
Irene Garman, 96, of West Liberty passed away Wednesday morning, May 20, 2026, at Otterbein Green Hills Senior Life Community. Irene was born in Rushsylvania, Ohio on February 19, 1930, to the late Hally H. and Alice C. (Mann) Simmons. She married Donald Max Garman on January 28, 1950 in Bellefontaine and he preceded her in death on November 18, 2008. Irene was also preceded in death by grandson, Ryan Reynolds; 3 brothers: Nelson Simmons, Gerald Simmons, and Virgil Simmons; and a sister, Ruth Spathe. Irene is survived by her son, Doug (Janice) Garman of San Diego, California; daughter, Connie J. (Nick) Reynolds of Bluffton, South Carolina; 4 grandchildren: Seth (Lauren) Reynolds, Kyle (Cindy) Garman, Sarah Garman, and Tayanna (Lance) Cusic; 5 great-grandchildren: Gianna, Alexandra, and Mickalina Cusic, Will and Rachel Patton; and several nieces and nephews. Irene was a member of Bellefontaine First United Methodist Church and the Bellefontaine American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing euchre and bridge. Most of all, Irene cherished the time spent with her family. Pastor Ted Bible will officiate Irene’s funeral service on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 12 noon, at Eichholtz & Daring Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 101 Zanesfield Road, West Liberty, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, West Liberty. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cherished Hospice, 1929 E.
