Forget the heat and humidity. Once again Hurley Farms plans to get a head start on craft season and, dare I say? Christmas with their 11th annual Craft Show on Saturday, July 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Featuring handmade crafts like home décor, jewelry and candles from approximately 50 vendors along with half a dozen food trucks and all the fresh produce you could ask for, this year’s show promises a fun, tasty day for the community. Parking and admission are free, as always.

This Made In Ohio event started 11 years ago with 20 vendors and food provided by Hurleys and a couple local church groups.

It continued to grow, though, until owner Lea Del Hurley felt they had maxed out the space for what they wanted to do. That space now involves a full tent plus the hoop and pole barns.

“It’s a nice selection of items,” Hurley said. “You’re sure to find something you like for yourself. I’ve even heard people say they start their holiday shopping [at the craft show].”

Of course it draws a big crowd, which can lead to more traffic than usual along State Route 117, Huntsville. With that in mind, Hurley encourages attendees to drive carefully and “be patient.”

The market itself will have local sweet corn, Indiana melons, Michigan blueberries and plenty of Ohio-grown produce like tomatoes, green beans, cucumbers and green peppers. Hurley hopes to procure some Georgia peaches by then but, unfortunately, those are harder to come by this summer.

Food truck options include sandwiches, cabbage rolls, homemade ice cream, kettle corn, roasted nuts, funnel cakes and donuts fresh out of the fryer.
