Jonathan Alder’s Jake Bauer pitched a gem against Bellefontaine at Blue Jacket Park Thursday, April 23 as the sophomore lefty allowed only one runner – a fifth-inning walk – to reach base while no-hitting the Chieftains in a mercy rule shortened five-inning game, leading the Pioneers to a 10-0 win.
The state-ranked Pioneers (12-0, 8-0 in CBC) dropped two runs on the Chiefs (6-6, 3-6 in CBC) in the second inning and collected six hits in an eight-run fourth.
Bauer struck out nine batters in his five innings of work Thursday. He is now 4-0 on the season, having allowed only one earned run in 23 innings of work this season.

Cashton Wheeler had a double and a pair of RBIs for the Pioneers. Corey Taylor also provided a hit and 2RBI.
Brooks Pierce, Cam Martin, Luke Tubbs, and Kayden Hall all collected at least one RBI for JA.
Only a single walk was able to be drawn by the Chieftain offense in the game. Maddox Miller was the Chief to prevent the perfect game from JA.
In the five-inning game, BHS walked seven batters and was only able to manage two strikeouts in the five innings of work.
Bellefontaine is slated to host CBC-rival Spr. Shawnee at Blue Jacket Park Friday, April 24, at 5 p.m., before entertaining West Liberty-Salem in a non-conference game at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 25.
