The Bellefontaine Lady Chiefs appear to be hitting their stride at just the right time.

Competing at the Berlin Bear Den Dash hosted by Olentangy Berlin, Bellefontaine battled through wet and sloppy conditions to turn in one of its strongest team performances of the season, with personal records and season-best times coming throughout the varsity lineup.

After a difficult stretch over the past few weeks, the Lady Chiefs responded by running together and competing as a pack — exactly the kind of performance Bellefontaine hopes to carry into the postseason.

Grace Brown led the way for the Lady Chiefs, finishing in the top 10 with a season-best time of 19:07. Brown's performance marked an important bounce-back effort after a couple of challenging weeks.

Behind Brown, Bellefontaine's pack stayed tightly grouped.

Camila Hernandez posted a personal-record time of 22:17, followed closely by Chloe O'Chocke at 22:19. Sloan Stolly continued the team's strong showing with another PR at 22:21, while Cameo Greene crossed in 22:25, also establishing a new personal best. Hannah Wilson rounded out the varsity group in 22:37.

The tightly packed times demonstrated the Lady Chiefs' ability to race as a team rather than relying on one individual performance.

"I love seeing this group come together, run for each other, and compete as a team," Bellefontaine coach Stacey Wilson said. "This is the kind of momentum we need heading into the postseason, and I'm excited to see what they can do."

The performance comes at an important point in the season. With the postseason approaching, Bellefontaine is beginning to see the payoff from its work throughout the fall, and the Lady Chiefs now have a strong team performance to build upon.

The Lady Chiefs will have another opportunity to put that momentum to work at the CBC Championships on Oct. 17 in Urbana.
