Bellefontaine High School outfielder Addison Wical recently signed her letter of intent with Division III Marietta College.

She was joined by her family, teammates, and coaches during the signing ceremony in the Sloan Distance Learning Center at BHS.

A daughter of Erik and Melissa Wical, Addison said she chose Marietta because of the atmosphere on the campus and the softball program. She plans to study business.

Marietta is a private university. The Pioneers compete in the Ohio Athletic Conference.

Wical, who started playing softball in elementary school, has put together a stellar career.

She has several BHS softball records, including most doubles in a season (16), most doubles in a career (44), and most RBIs in a season (29). She also recorded her 100th career hit earlier this season.

Addison was named a Second-Team CBC Outfielder in 2024 and 2025. She was also named Academic All-Ohio in 2025.

In addition, Addison has maintained a 4.0 grade point average at BHS.

Wical reflected on her signing, “It feels great to finally sign. It feels like there has been a weight lifted off my shoulders. College softball has been a goal of mine since I was 9 years old.

“My goal is to be a four-year contributor.

“Finally, my dad and grandpa have helped me ever since I was little, and all my softball coaches have helped me get ready for high-level softball.”

BHS varsity softball coach Katie Buffkin said for the past four years, Addison has been a dedicated player to the program, bringing a great deal of skill and abilities to the team.

She has been a key driver of our offensive efforts and an integral part of our outfield.

“Addison has a true passion for the game of softball and is a leader in helping the younger players develop. I look forward to seeing what the future holds for her.”

Wical also considered Georgetown College and Wheaton College.
