INDIAN LAKE — Senior Night gave the Indian Lake girls soccer team an opportunity to celebrate two players who have helped shape the program, but the Lady Lakers were unable to provide the finishing touch on the field Wednesday night.

Indian Lake recognized seniors Hailey Prater and Alaina Hershberger before taking on the Hillclimbers on Sept. 23. While the result did not go the Lakers' way, the night served as a celebration of the contributions both seniors have made throughout their careers.

“It was a great night to celebrate our two seniors, Hailey Prater and Alaina Hershberger,” Indian Lake head coach said. “They have contributed so much to this team over the years and we know they are going to make an incredible impact on the world after graduation.”

Once the match began, however, Indian Lake found itself facing an uphill battle.

The Lady Lakers were unable to find the back of the net as the Hillclimbers posted a 4-0 victory. Despite surrendering four goals, Indian Lake goalkeeper Izzi Mackesy kept the Lakers in the match with a strong individual performance.

Mackesy recorded 13 saves on the night, displaying plenty of effort and determination in her first season playing goalkeeper.

The loss was another difficult result for a young Indian Lake squad, but the Lakers' coaching staff remains optimistic about what the remainder of the season can bring.

“This team has incredible potential, we just need to dig deep and find the strength to play together,” the coach said. “We still have quite a bit of season left and I am keeping optimistic for where we can go.” said Head Coach Caitlyn Brown.

With Senior Night now in the rearview mirror, Indian Lake will turn its attention toward the remainder of the schedule. While Wednesday's result was not the celebration the Lakers hoped for on the scoreboard, the evening provided an opportunity to recognize Prater and Hershberger for the impact they have made — both on the field and within the program.

For Indian Lake, there is still plenty of soccer to be played and plenty of opportunities ahead to turn that potential into results.
