The Lady Lakers kicked off the 2026 season in impressive fashion on Saturday, traveling to Greenville and earning a hard-fought 2-1 victory to start the year with a win.

From the opening whistle, the Lakers played with intensity, determination, and energy, setting the tone early against the Green Wave. Their aggressive approach on the offensive end paid off in the first half, as Bellefontaine scored twice to build an advantage they would not relinquish.

A veteran-led attack generated consistent pressure throughout the match, combining for 23 shots on goal. Junior Brylee Roseburrough and junior Bre Wisener each found the back of the net to provide the Lakers' scoring punch and help secure the season-opening win.

While the offense created opportunities, the Lakers' defense proved equally impressive. The back line of junior Diem Martin, senior Hailey Prater, freshman Mila Hawkins, and sophomore Ally Hoffman worked together seamlessly, limiting Greenville's chances and keeping the hosts off balance throughout the contest.

The defensive unit held Greenville to just seven shots on goal, showcasing strong communication and teamwork while protecting the Lakers' lead. Despite a late push from the Green Wave, Indian Lake maintained its composure and closed out the 2-1 victory.

It was a complete team effort for the Lady Lakers, who demonstrated both offensive firepower and defensive toughness in their season debut.

Indian Lake Girls return to action Monday night for its home opener, welcoming Northwestern for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
