The Indian Lake Lakers suffered their first loss of the season Friday night, falling 32-14 to the Allen East Mustangs on the road.

The Lakers found themselves playing from behind early and were unable to overcome a turnover-filled night, as Allen East took advantage of its opportunities to build a lead and pull away in the second half.

The Mustangs struck first with 8:49 remaining in the opening quarter when quarterback Keagan Jones connected with Ethan Hershberger on a 46-yard touchdown pass to put Allen East ahead 6-0.

Allen East added to its lead early in the second quarter. Jones again found the end zone through the air, connecting with Dominic Burkett on a 40-yard touchdown pass with 11:43 remaining in the half. Travis Stanley added the extra point to make it 13-0.

Indian Lake answered midway through the quarter.

With 7:27 left before halftime, Brady Golldiay connected with Reed Strayer on a four-yard touchdown pass to put the Lakers on the board. Rush Hurley added the extra point, cutting the deficit to 13-7.

Allen East responded with another big play before halftime. With just 1:53 remaining in the second quarter, Jones found Burkett for an 87-yard touchdown reception, extending the Mustangs' lead to 20-7 following Stanley's extra point.

Indian Lake refused to go into the locker room quietly.

With only eight seconds remaining in the half, Golldiay scored on a 10-yard rushing touchdown. Hurley converted the extra point, bringing the Lakers within six points at 20-14 heading into halftime.

The Lakers moved the ball effectively throughout the night, finishing with 384 total yards. Golldiay completed 21 of 36 passes for 250 yards and one touchdown, while also leading Indian Lake on the ground with 86 rushing yards and a touchdown on 22 carries.

Brodey Reisinger led the Lakers through the air with six receptions for 86 yards. Reed Strayer added five catches for 57 yards and a touchdown, while Dawson Stevenson recorded three receptions for 17 yards and rushed 12 times for 41 yards.

Indian Lake's offense, however, struggled to hold onto the football. The Lakers were charged with five fumbles and lost four, along with one interception. Those turnovers helped Allen East maintain control despite the Lakers' offensive production.

The Mustangs finished with 397 total yards, including 285 through the air and 112 on the ground. Jones completed eight of 14 passes for 285 yards and three touchdowns while adding 90 rushing yards and another touchdown on 18 carries.

Burkett was the biggest weapon for Allen East, catching five passes for 214 yards and two touchdowns. His 87-yard touchdown reception was the longest play of the night.

The Mustangs added to their lead with 2:54 remaining in the third quarter when Jones scored on a three-yard rushing touchdown, making it 26-14.

Allen East put the game away in the fourth quarter when Miles McDorman scored on a two-yard rushing touchdown with 1:13 remaining, completing the 32-14 victory.

Despite the loss, Indian Lake showed the ability to move the football, finishing with 21 first downs and 250 passing yards. The Lakers will now look to clean up the turnovers and regroup during the week.

Indian Lake will return to action next Friday when the Lakers travel to London to take on the Red Raiders, looking to bounce back and get back into the win column.
