The final days for swimming at the “old” Hoffman Pool are upon us, as the pool will be open through Sunday, Aug. 16, prior to its large-scale redesign and renovation project that will take shape this fall.
The Bellefontaine Joint Recreation District project has been in the works for years. The current pool was built in 1968 and is definitely showing its age.
“The new pool will be easier for the city to operate and more efficient,” Katie Freeland, project manager with the MSA Design previously explained during a community engagaement session June 18 at the pool. MSA Design is leading the development.
“It will be a little smaller but more efficiently laid out.”
For those wanting to take a last dip in the pool, daily hours are 12:15 to 7 p.m. each day.
Admission is $4 for children 3 and older and for adults. For those ages 2 and under and seniors ages 60 and older, pool entry is free.
Once the old pool closes on Aug. 16, it will be drained and, if all goes well, demolition will begin shortly thereafter.
