Area residents are invited to take a moment to pause and honor the men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces when a Veterans Parade is staged Saturday, Nov. 7, in downtown Bellefontaine.

The parade begins at 11 a.m. and marches through the downtown area. Samantha Jackson and the American Legion Post 173 of Bellefontaine are organizing the festivities and are calling for area organizations, sports teams, clubs, businesses, churches and others to join together to create floats for the patriotic event.

“We are thrilled to invite all those who stand behind our veterans to join us in this parade,” coordinator Jackson said.

The City of Bellefontaine also encouraged area organizations to consider utilizing their float or other creative materials from the Logan County America 250 Parade, staged in September.

“Maybe after the last parade you thought, “Next time, we can make it even better by…”
Well…this is next time,” city officials said in a social media post.

“Pull that float back out, make those improvements, add some new touches, and let’s make this Veterans Parade one to remember.

“Let’s celebrate our veterans, bring Bellefontaine together, and keep the parade fun going.”

The deadline for parade entries is Oct. 23. Register at the following link, https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc2yn2S1eTC5XGzQ0tWxmTUoV9R_o5llM3uv28s4Jo73PdhMA/viewform

The parade leaves the Logan County Fairgrounds promptly at 11 a.m. Parade line-up begins at 9 a.m.

Food trucks will open in downtown Bellefontaine beginning at 9 a.m. along Court Avenue, giving families and visitors a chance to arrive early, enjoy local food options and show their support before the procession begins.

Community members are encouraged to help fill downtown with support for veterans. With flags, marching participants and a festive downtown atmosphere, the parade is expected to offer a meaningful tribute to service members while bringing the Bellefontaine community together in recognition and gratitude.
