Mary Rutan Health issued the following statement July 30 following the July 28 meeting of the Bellefontaine City Council:
The safety of our patients, team members and visitors remains a top priority at Mary Rutan
Health. We recognize the serious concerns raised by our nurses and appreciate their advocacy for a safe and supportive care environment.
Protecting healthcare workers requires partnership. It depends on strong internal safety
practices, effective collaboration with law enforcement and prosecutors, and the support of the community we serve.
Mary Rutan Health leadership has previously had conversations with the Bellefontaine Police Department and the City Prosecutor to discuss opportunities to strengthen communication and response procedures. We appreciate the ongoing dialogue and remain committed to working collaboratively with both agencies as conversations continue.
Within our organization, every reported security event is reviewed through our incident
reporting process. We maintain 24/7 on-site security coverage and are continuing to listen to our team members, supporting their concerns and taking meaningful steps to strengthen workplace safety.
