Fahrenheit 451
BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio – Live music, a thought-provoking play, classic movies and a real-life ghost hunter – October at the Holland offers a myriad of ways to enjoy the arts and celebrate both the chills and the charms of the season, including a just-announced evening of autumn-themed jazz.
The month kicks off on Saturday, Oct. 3, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 4, at 2 p.m., with Windmill Productions’ presentation of Fahrenheit 451, a play based on the 1953 classic dystopian novel by Ray Bradbury. In a bleak future where books are banned and screens keep the population passive, a fireman whose job it is to burn books risks everything for freedom of thought. The production features a cast of local actors along with innovative technical effects and staging. Tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for youth 17 and under. This event is sponsored by Beasley Architecture & Design

Stomping Freedom
Next is a screening of Stomping Freedom followed by a panel discussion with the director, Bellefontaine High School alum Kane Stratton, and cast members on Monday, Oct. 12, at 7 p.m.
Part of the Holland’s Americans at 250 Film Series, this 40-minute film produced by Caesar’s Ford Theatre, an American Indian-led nonprofit, looks at the American Revolution through the perspective of a Shawnee community. Tickets are $20. This event is sponsored by Jason and Ann Vogel.
The Americans at 250 Film Series continues on Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 7 p.m., with Terrence Malick’s 1978 masterpiece Days of Heaven. Set in Texas wheat country in the early 1900s, this haunting exploration of love and loss won an Academy Award for Best Cinematography. Tickets are $8.
