As the new school year approaches, Ohio Hi-Point Career Center will welcome new and returning students and their families to student orientation on Wednesday, Aug. 12, from noon to 5 p.m.
The event will provide students with the information and resources they need to begin the school year.
With more than 750 students enrolled — a record high for Ohio Hi-Point — families are encouraged to attend during their designated time to help the orientation process run smoothly:
Last names A-J: Noon-2:30 p.m.; and
Last names K-Z: 2:30-5 p.m.
During orientation, students can pick up their class schedules, uniforms and laptops.
Student drivers should take their driver’s license, vehicle registration, and proof of auto insurance to register for a parking permit. The school nurse will be available to discuss medical needs or concerns, and counselors will assist with schedule and course questions.
All students and families must complete OHP FinalForms before orientation. OHP’s forms are separate from those completed through a student’s partner school and must be completed before student orientation Aug. 12.
To further support the well-being and academic success of all Ohio Hi-Point students, the Board of Education recently voted unanimously to continue funding campus student lunches for the upcoming school year.
This marks another consecutive year that Ohio Hi-Point campus students will receive complimentary lunches, a measure designed to alleviate financial pressure on families and ensure every student has access to nutritious meals throughout their school day.
"The Board's decision reflects their belief that proper nutrition is fundamental to a student's ability to learn and thrive," said Superintendent Brad Richardson.
"By providing free lunches, we are removing a potential barrier to learning and ensuring our students can fully focus on education and future aspirations."
The Ohio Hi-Point Career Center Board of Education understands the profound impact that access to healthy meals has on student concentration, attendance and overall academic performance. This continued commitment aligns with the district's overarching mission to foster a supportive and enriching educational environment for every student.
Further details regarding lunch distribution and any specific program guidelines for the 2026-27 school year will be communicated directly to students and families prior to the start of classes.
Ohio Hi-Point uses a staggered start to help new students become familiar with campus. First-year students will begin school Wednesday, Aug. 19. All first-year and returning students will attend Thursday, Aug. 20.
The school day runs from 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
Ohio Hi-Point’s partner schools are aware of the district’s start dates and school hours. Bus transportation is coordinated through each student’s partner school. Families with questions about routes, pickup times or transportation changes should contact their partner school’s transportation department.
Families should also make sure they are connected to ParentSquare, while students should use StudentSquare to receive school updates, reminders and other important information throughout the year.
