The Riverside Pirates continued their dominant run through the Three Rivers Conference on Friday night, celebrating senior night with another convincing victory to extend their winning streak to eight games.

Since dropping their season opener against Ansonia, the Pirates have been nearly unstoppable, turning what began as a challenging start into a season that is quickly becoming one to remember at Riverside High School.

Senior night began on a memorable note when Kenna Johnson plunged into the end zone from a yard out for the first touchdown of her career, giving the Pirates an early boost.

From there, it was the Dylan Trimble show.

The senior running back turned in his best rushing performance of the season, finishing with 132 yards and three touchdowns. His performance also moved him closer to the 1,000-yard rushing milestone, putting him in position to reach the mark before the season concludes.

Trimble found the end zone twice in the first quarter, scoring on runs of 1 and 5 yards as Riverside built a commanding 21-0 lead heading into the second quarter.

The senior was not finished. Early in the second quarter, Trimble broke loose for an explosive 82-yard touchdown run, extending the Pirates' advantage to 28-0 and delivering another highlight on a night dedicated to Riverside's seniors.

Junior Gunner Carpenter, Trimble's running mate in the Pirates' backfield, added his own long touchdown run before halftime. With three minutes remaining in the first half, Carpenter broke through for a 60-yard scoring run, helping Riverside build a lead that triggered a running clock in the second half.

Cedarville managed to find the end zone twice in the fourth quarter, trimming the margin in the closing minutes. However, the late scores came too late to threaten the Pirates' commanding advantage.

With another victory secured, Riverside now turns its attention to a major test next week against Miami East. The Vikings enter the matchup with an 8-1 record and are coming off a 48-6 victory over Troy Christian, a game in which they surrendered their first points since Sept. 11.

The Pirates will look to make it nine consecutive victories while continuing their impressive march through the regular season.
