Indian Lake gets the clock running on a 35-0 victory over rival Benjamin Logan High School. PRESTON SHIELDS CHRONICLE STAFF

Indian Lake kicked off the evening by celebrating its youth and middle school athletic programs, recognizing the middle school, pee-wee football, and cheerleading squads before taking the field against rival Benjamin Logan.

What followed was a turnover-filled contest in which the Indian Lake defense made its presence felt throughout the night, capitalizing on Benjamin Logan’s offensive struggles to secure a commanding victory, 35-0.

The game featured nine fumbles, eight of which resulted in a change of possession, as both offenses struggled to find consistency. However, Indian Lake took full advantage of the opportunities presented to it.

On the third drive of the game, Brady Golliday and Brody Reisinger connected three times to march the Lakers down the field and give Indian Lake a 7-0 lead.

Reisinger continued to make an impact shortly afterward, recovering a backward lateral involving quarterback Adam Tinsman and Jordan Pinder before returning it 35 yards for a touchdown. The defensive score extended Indian Lake’s advantage to 14-0 and marked Reisinger’s second touchdown of the evening.

The Lakers added to their lead with a two-yard touchdown plunge by Golliday, pushing the advantage to 21-0 as Benjamin Logan struggled to establish any offensive rhythm.

The Raiders repeatedly found themselves moving backward after making progress, with five fumbles contributing to their offensive difficulties. Indian Lake capitalized on the miscues, turning a night of uncharacteristic mistakes from Benjamin Logan into a defensive showcase.

Coming out of halftime, the Raiders looked to regain momentum and fight their way back into the contest. However, Indian Lake’s defense had other plans.

Aaron Rapp continued to wreak havoc in the backfield, applying pressure to Tinsman and forcing the Raiders quarterback into a difficult throw toward the sideline. Reisinger came away with the interception and returned it to the six-yard line, setting Indian Lake up with excellent field position.

The Lakers would immediately take advantage a few moments later on a trick play, a toss sweep pass from Nixon Lillard to Reisinger, for his third TD of the game.

It would not be until 8 minutes remained in the game that another score would take place; an 11-yard touchdown reception to Blake Sell from Golliday would put the nail in this game and put the running clock in motion.

Reisinger’s performance highlighted a complete defensive effort from the Lakers. He finished the night with two touchdown receptions, two fumble recoveries, an interception, and more than 100 receiving yards, while also managing return duties, making an impact in all three phases of the game.

With timely offensive connections and a defense that consistently turned mistakes into opportunities, Indian Lake controlled the contest while Benjamin Logan struggled to overcome a turnover-plagued evening.

The Lakers turn their attention to a strong Graham Falcons team next week that has been ranked amongst the region’s best teams. The Raiders now look to rebound and take on a struggling Northwestern squad that has not found a victory yet this season.
