Richard F. Marker, 83, of Bellefontaine passed away on Friday, May 29, 2026 in The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Columbus. He was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio on September 8, 1942 the son of the late James Leo and Alice Maxine (LeValley) Marker. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry Marker and John Marker. On March 22, 1966, he married Marlene (Lohse) Marker in Germany and she survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Rebecca Marker (Andrew) Smith of West Liberty and a son, Christian F. Marker of Bellefontaine; a sister, Judy (Rex) Means of Spencer, IN; and a brother, Ed Marker of Huntsville; several nieces and a nephew. Richard retired from Norfolk Southern Railway in 2002, after working many years as a railroad clerk. Richard was an amateur HAM radio operator with the call sign “N8OZB.” He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving his country for five years, and eventually meeting his bride while serving in Germany. Pastor Karen Griswold will officiate a funeral service on Monday, June 8, 2026 at 6pm in the Eichholtz & Daring Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home, from 4 to 6pm.
