The Buccaneers of Covington (5-7) poured it on the Riverside Pirates Baseball team (9-3) Thursday night, April 16, coming out with a 10-3 Covington win.
Two was the number of the night for Covington. They scored two runs in five straight innings to dismantle Riverside.
Three hitters, Brairen Denson, Caiden Hollingsworth and Gunner Uderman, collected two hits apiece in the contest.
On the mound, Hunter McMillion battled out a seven-inning complete game win. He struck out 11 batters on the night while only walking two.
Only one Pirate on the night found consistent success against McMillion. Pirate batter Brody Orsborne was the lone hitter with multiple hits, and he also drew a walk to reach base three separate times in the contest.
In the third inning, Riverside was able to tie the game at two apiece before the Buccaneers kept applying pressure. Counting by twos, they eventually worked their way up to a 10-2 lead.
In the seventh inning, the Pirates were able to push another run across the board, making the score 10-3 in favor of the Buccaneers.
Cooper Crouch and Tony Robinson both collected RBIs on the night for Riverside.
Syler Clark takes the loss on the night for the Pirates, in five innings of work he allowed 8 runs, though only 3 of them were earned. He struck out 7 in the game.
Riverside is back in action Friday night, April 17, against Fairlawn at home.
