Division III — Southwest 2

District Quarterfinal: Bellefontaine vs. Bethel

When: Saturday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m.
Where: Bellefontaine High School

Bellefontaine will host Bethel in a district quarterfinal matchup as the Chieftains look to keep their season alive with a victory on their home field.

The Chieftains have found their stride late in the season, led by senior Ethan Turner, who has emerged as one of the area's most dangerous scoring threats. Turner showcased his scoring ability with back-to-back hat tricks late in the regular season, giving Bellefontaine a proven offensive weapon heading into tournament play.

On the defensive end, senior goalkeeper Noah Torsell, the school's all-time leader in saves, will be a key figure. Torsell's experience and ability to come up with timely stops could prove critical as the Chieftains look to advance.

The winner will face the winner of West Carrollton and the Tippecanoe-Piqua matchup in the next round.

Division IV — Southwest 3

First Round: Indian Lake vs. Oakwood

When: Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 7 p.m.
Where: Lane Stadium, Oakwood High School

Indian Lake will travel to Oakwood for a first-round tournament matchup, looking to pull off an upset and secure its first victory of the season.

The Lakers face a difficult challenge against Oakwood, but the postseason offers an opportunity to turn the page and finish the year on a high note. Junior goalkeeper Wendell Hurless will be an important piece of the effort, as Indian Lake will need a strong defensive performance to stay competitive.

For the Lakers to advance, Hurless will need to deliver a clean performance in goal while the offense works to find its rhythm and capitalize on scoring opportunities.

The winner advances to face Preble Shawnee.

District Quarterfinal: Benjamin Logan vs. West Liberty-Salem

When: Saturday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m.
Where: Benjamin Logan High School

An all-area showdown awaits in the Division IV district quarterfinals, as Benjamin Logan welcomes West Liberty-Salem for a matchup between two teams looking to carry late-season momentum into tournament play.

Benjamin Logan enters the contest playing some of its best soccer of the season. The Raiders have won seven of their last eight games and captured the Mad River Division title in the Central Buckeye Conference.

Sophomore goalkeeper Carter Phillips anchors a defense that has recorded six shutouts this season. Benjamin Logan will look to control the pace of play, limit scoring opportunities and use its defensive consistency to frustrate the Tigers.

West Liberty-Salem also enters the postseason with momentum, having won four of its last five contests. Senior goalkeeper Tucker Searles finished second in the Ohio Heritage Conference with 76 saves, giving the Tigers an experienced last line of defense.

Offensively, sophomore Kam Yang leads West Liberty-Salem with 14 goals. Yang's ability to find the back of the net could be pivotal against a Benjamin Logan defense that has demonstrated its ability to keep opponents off the scoreboard.

With both teams playing well entering the postseason, the matchup could come down to which side best controls the tempo and takes advantage of its scoring chances.

The winner advances to face the winner of Milton-Union and the Greenon-Graham matchup.

Division V — Southeastern 1

District Quarterfinal: Calvary Christian vs. winner of Dixie-Emmanuel Christian

When: Saturday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m.
Where: At the home site of the Dixie-Emmanuel Christian winner

Calvary Christian will await the outcome of the first-round contest between Dixie and Emmanuel Christian before beginning its district tournament run. The Spartans will travel to face the winner, with a spot in the next round on the line.

Junior Cale Buchenroth leads the Calvary Christian attack and has been one of the team's most productive offensive players. His 13 goals rank fourth in the Metro Buckeye Conference, making him a key scoring threat as the Spartans look to make a postseason push.

Goalkeeper Brody Prall provides a strong presence on the other end of the field, ranking second in the conference in saves. The combination of Buchenroth's scoring ability and Prall's shot-stopping experience gives Calvary Christian important pieces on both sides of the ball.

If the Spartans can generate consistent offensive pressure while maintaining their defensive discipline, they will have an opportunity to advance to the next round.

Division IV — Southwest 1

District Quarterfinal: Indian Lake vs. Waynesville

When: Thursday, Oct. 22; time to be determined
Where: Waynesville High School

Indian Lake will travel to Waynesville for a district quarterfinal matchup as the Lakers look to earn a road victory and continue their postseason run.

The Lakers will need a complete team performance to advance, with defensive organization and timely scoring opportunities likely to play important roles in the outcome.

The winner will advance to face the winner of Valley View and Milton-Union.

Division IV — Southwest 2

District Quarterfinal: Benjamin Logan vs. Kenton Ridge

When: Thursday, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m.
Where: Benjamin Logan High School

Benjamin Logan will defend its home field against Kenton Ridge in a district quarterfinal matchup. The Raiders will look to take advantage of their home-field setting and extend their season with a victory.

With a place in the next round at stake, Benjamin Logan will need to execute on both ends of the field and capitalize on its opportunities in front of goal.

Division IV — Southwest 3

District Quarterfinal: Bellefontaine vs. Shawnee

When: Thursday, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m.
Where: Shawnee High School

Bellefontaine will travel to Shawnee for a district quarterfinal contest as the young Chieftains look to make their mark in the postseason.

The Lady Chieftains found some success late in the regular season, earning consecutive victories over Northwestern and Indian Lake earlier this month. Those wins provided a boost heading into tournament play and offered the team an opportunity to build confidence.

Now, Bellefontaine will look to carry that momentum into a challenging road matchup. With a young roster gaining experience, the tournament provides an opportunity for the Chieftains to continue developing while competing for a spot in the next round.

The winner will advance to face the winner of Oakwood and Carlisle.

Division V — Southwest 2

District Quarterfinal: Calvary Christian vs. winner of Miami East-Southeastern

When: Thursday, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m.
Where: At the home site of the Miami East-Southeastern winner

Calvary Christian will await the winner of the Miami East-Southeastern first-round matchup before taking the field in district quarterfinal action. The Spartans will travel to face the winner, looking to earn a victory and advance in the tournament.

Senior leaders Makarios Kariuki, Jenna Palmer and Reagan Roell will be important contributors as Calvary Christian prepares for postseason competition. Their experience and familiarity with one another could provide valuable leadership in a win-or-go-home setting.

The Spartans will need to combine that senior leadership with strong team chemistry and disciplined play to give themselves the best chance of advancing.

The winner will face the winner of Twin Valley South and Dayton Christian in the next round.

The Road Ahead

With tournament action beginning this week, area teams will have little margin for error. From Bellefontaine's late-season scoring surge to Benjamin Logan's strong finish and Calvary Christian's experienced leaders, several local programs have reasons to believe they can make a postseason run.

For each team, the formula will be straightforward: defend well, capitalize on scoring opportunities and deliver when the stakes are highest. As the tournament progresses, the area teams will look to turn their regular-season preparation into postseason success.
