Timothy “Tim” Jay Clay of Huntsville, Ohio passed away on August 21, 2026 in Columbus Ohio. Born in Bellefontaine, Ohio on August 2, 1956 to the late Phyllis (Moore) King and Marion “Frank” Clay. He is survived by his two daughters that he was very proud of, Danielle “Elle” Sato of Tampa, FL and Abigail “Abby” Clay of Cuyahoga Falls, OH. He is also survived by his brothers, Dennis Clay of Joplin, MO and David Clay Russells Point; half-sister, Penny Pond of DeGraff; and half-brother, James “Jaime” Armstrong of Kenton. Additionally, he is survived by previous wives, Donetta (Imel) Clay of Trotwood and Martha (Stewart) Clay of Bellefontaine. Tim was a proud Army veteran, serving from 1976-1978 in Kansas and Germany as a weld technician. He retired from Honda in 2016 after 36 years as a weld team lead. After working on the motorcycles at the Honda Marysville plant, he then proceeded to build the first Honda Accord, which was the first Honda automobile to be produced in the United States. Tim was also a member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary at Indian Lake. Tim was a Post Commander of the American Legion in Bellefontaine. Additionally, he was a member of the Moose Fraternity, Amvets, Eagles, and the Elks. He was a Master Diver for Central Ohio School of Diving where he had been scuba diving since 2005. Tim was also a member of Friends Serving Friends and previously a member of the Browns Backers Club at Brothers Bar. Other hobbies included golfing, welding and fishing. A gathering of family and friends will be Friday, August 28, 2026, from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St, Lakeview. Private graveside services will be in Huntsville Cemetery with military rites performed by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard. A Memorial Celebration in Tim’s honor will be held from 1:00 pm – 3:00pm, Saturday, August 29, 2026 at Desperado’s Bar and Grill, 6857 Lima St, Huntsville.
