URBANA, Ohio — Bellefontaine showed its big-play potential through the air Friday night, but a second-quarter scoring surge by Urbana proved too much for the Chiefs to overcome in a 42-20 loss to the Hill Climbers on Oct. 16.
Bellefontaine struck first with an explosive connection between quarterback Blake Loomis and receiver Dillon Jones, who hauled in a 74-yard touchdown pass to give the Chiefs an early lead. However, Urbana answered with a dominant second quarter, putting up 28 points to take a 28-13 advantage into halftime.
The Chiefs struggled to regain their footing after the break, going scoreless in the second and third quarters as the Hill Climbers maintained control. Bellefontaine managed one final touchdown in the fourth quarter when Loomis broke free for a 7-yard rushing score, but the late effort was not enough to spark a comeback.
Loomis led the Chiefs offensively, completing 19 of 31 passes for 259 yards and one touchdown. He also contributed 34 rushing yards and two scores on the ground, accounting for three of Bellefontaine's four touchdowns.

Jones was Loomis' top target, finishing with seven receptions for 154 yards and a touchdown. His 74-yard scoring catch highlighted a productive night for the Bellefontaine passing attack. Sutton Daring added six receptions for 71 yards, while CJ Butler hauled in five passes for 28 yards.
Despite producing 312 total yards, the Chiefs struggled to turn their offensive output into points consistently. Bellefontaine recorded 259 passing yards and 53 rushing yards, averaging just 2.5 yards per carry on the ground.
Turnovers also proved costly. The Chiefs committed three turnovers and went 0-for-3 on third-down conversions, making it difficult to sustain drives against Urbana. Bellefontaine was also flagged nine times for 77 yards.
The loss overshadowed an impressive individual performance from Jones and a three-touchdown night from Loomis. While the Chiefs demonstrated their ability to generate explosive plays through the air, Urbana's second-quarter outburst created a deficit that proved too difficult to overcome.
Bellefontaine will look to regroup in its next outing, with limiting turnovers and finding greater consistency on offense serving as key areas of focus moving forward.
