West Liberty-Salem Boys golf team. (WEST LIBERTY-SALEM LOCAL SCHOOLS)

The Tigers’ boys team secured second place with a 371 on the par71 layout, finishing behind Mechanicsburg’s winning total of 347. West Liberty-Salem’s depth proved to be its strength, with all six varsity golfers contributing competitive rounds. 

Calen Fairchild led the Tigers with an 87, followed closely by Braxton Catron at 88. Brayden Thompson added a 97, Eli Jackson shot 99, Logan Behlmer posted 105, and Carter Henderson rounded out the varsity scoring with a 113.

The Tigers’ JV squad also competed, with Owen Thornburg carding a 112 to pace the group.

In the girls’ ninehole division, West Liberty-Salem earned second place with a 234, finishing behind Mechanicsburg’s winning score of 216. Graham (237), Urbana (259), Triad (N/A) and West Liberty-Salem’s JV (280) completed the standings. Mechanicsburg’s Blake Roush claimed medalist honors with a 43.

The invitational offered an earlyseason benchmark for the Tigers as they continue to build momentum heading into league play. The boys’ secondplace finish and the girls’ strong showing underscored West Liberty-Salem’s consistency across both programs, with multiple players posting rounds that keep the Tigers firmly in contention within Champaign County.
