West Liberty-Salem will not take the field against Catholic Central this Friday after the scheduled Ohio Heritage Conference matchup was canceled following Catholic Central’s shortened contest against Triad.

The Tigers were originally scheduled to travel to Springfield on Friday, Sept. 11, for a 7 p.m. kickoff against the Irish. The game has since been removed from the schedule.

The cancellation comes after Catholic Central’s Week 3 matchup with Triad ended after just one half. Triad defeated the Irish 48-0, with the game concluding at halftime. According to the Marysville Journal-Tribune, Catholic Central was unable to continue the contest into the second half due to injuries.

The decision leaves West Liberty-Salem without its scheduled Week 4 game. The Tigers entered the week 1-2 overall and 1-0 in OHC play following a 31-0 shutout of Cedarville.

It has yet to be decided if the game will be counted as a forfeit or a bye week on the West Liberty-Salem schedule

For Catholic Central, the loss to Triad dropped the Irish to 0-3 on the season. The team had also suffered losses to National Trail and Troy Christian to begin the year.

The Irish have also cancelled their contest against the West Jefferson Roughriders the following week on September 18th due to injuries sustained to the roster.

The cancellation is a significant change for the Tigers, who were looking to build on their first win of the season and continue their OHC schedule. Instead, West Liberty-Salem will have to wait until its next scheduled contest to return to action.

The Tigers are currently scheduled to host Greenon on Friday, Sept. 18.
