The West Liberty-Salem boys golf team continued its strong start to the season Tuesday, earning two impressive victories in a tri-match against Madison-Plains and Southeastern at Locust Hills Golf Course. The course played to a par of 36.

The Tigers finished with a team score of 181 to defeat Madison-Plains, which posted a 203. WLS also recorded a 181 to comfortably defeat Southeastern, which finished with a 211. The two victories improved the Tigers’ overall record to 2–1 on the young season.

One of the highlights of the day was the consistency of the entire WLS lineup. All six Tigers broke 50, an impressive accomplishment that helped the team secure both victories. Brayden Thompson led the way, earning medalist honors with a round of 40. Thompson’s strong performance also earned him 22 league points on the day.

Braxton Carter followed with a solid 44, while Calen Fairchild carded a 48. Logan Behlmer, Carter Henderson and Eli Jackson each finished with a score of 49, giving WLS six players under the 50-stroke mark.

The balanced scoring demonstrates the depth of the Tigers’ lineup and their ability to compete as a team. Rather than relying on one or two standout performances, WLS received strong contributions from every golfer.

The Tigers will look to build on Tuesday’s momentum Friday when they travel to Woodland Golf Course for another tri-match, this time facing Triad and Northeastern. With the team now 2–1, WLS will look to continue its winning ways and carry its strong team chemistry into the next match.
